چکیده

We employ a nonrelativistic version of QCD (NRQCD) to study heavy qq̄-bound states in the lowest approximation without fine structure. We use gluon configurations on a 16×48-lattice at β = 6.2 from the UKQCD collaboration. For a bare quark mass near that of the b-quark (Ma = 1.6) we obtain the bound state masses for the S, P and both types of D-waves. We also detect signals for two types of hybrids (qq̄g-states). The results are sufficiently accurate to confirm that the values of the D-wave mass from both D-waves coincide thus indicating that the cubical invariance of the lattice is restored to full rotational invariance to a good approximation. We also study S and P -wave masses for values of the range of bare quark mass Ma = 1.0, 1.3, 1.6 & 1.9 . The results confirm the idea that the S/P -splitting is relatively insensitive to the value of the bare quark mass.

Heavy quark masses from QCD sum rules

I review recent determinations of the (on-shell) charmand beauty-quark masses in the framework of relativistic and non-relativistic ratios of Laplace transform QCD moment sum rules. The validity of the non-relativistic version of QCD sum rules in this particular application is discussed. Invited talk at the Mexican School of Particles and Fields, Villahermosa, Mexico, October 1994. John Simon G...

QCD forces and heavy quark bound states

The present knowledge of QCD confining forces between static test charges is summarised, with an emphasis on lattice results. Recent developments in relating QCD potentials to quarkonium properties by use of effective field theory methods are presented. The validity of non-relativistic QCD and the adiabatic approximation with respect to heavy quark bound states is explored. Besides the static p...

- relativistic bound states ∗

We investigate transition form factors between non-relativistic QCD bound states at large recoil energy. Assuming the decaying quark to be much heavier than its decay product, the relativistic dynamics can be treated according to the factorization formula for heavy-to-light form factors obtained from the heavy-quark expansion in QCD. The non-relativistic expansion determines the bound-state wav...

Hephy-pub 697/98 the Quark-antiquark Wilson Loop Formalism in the Nrqcd Power Counting Scheme

The quark-antiquark interaction from the NRQCD Lagrangian is studied in the Wilson loop formalism. 1. The NRQCD Lagrangian Large radii quarkonia (i.e. excited heavy mesons like b̄b and c̄c) cannot be described in terms of perturbative QCD with the addition of leading nonperturbative effects encoded into local condensates. This happens since in this situation the gluonic correlation length cannot ...

Non-perturbative Dynamics of the Heavy-Light Quark System

We obtain the non-perturbative interaction kernel of the heavy-light quark system in a gauge-invariant approach. The potential and the sum rules limit are discussed. Some insight is given in the light quark interaction. INTRODUCTION The dynamics of a system composed by two heavy quarks is well understood in terms of a potential interaction (static plus relativistic corrections) obtained from th...
